Oxford grads selling men’s dress shirts

When the economy soured in September 2008 and the U.S. financial system came close to collapsing, the ripple effect was felt across the globe.

About 3,700 miles from Richmond in London, Americans Paul Trible and Paul Watson had just graduated with their MBAs from Oxford University. The two were destined for jobs in the financial industry after internships in Shanghai and London.

But when the financial troubles began, they were caught up in the tidal wave of job cuts. The setback sent them in a new direction and eventually brought them from London to Richmond to become shirtmakers.
